Squeaky in the Valley of the Dolls

We had our furnace replaced last week, and one of our 3 cats wandered out of the open door.

I’ve been pre-occupied with his whereabouts. I’ve called the animal shelter and my vet. I’ve put up flyers. Each day I walk around the neighborhood calling him. Each night I put out fresh food and water.

He’s had a interesting life. Rescued about 6 years ago from a house that was condemned by the health department along with 72 other cats (most of whom are his close biological relatives), Squeaky came to live with us as a temporary foster cat. He didn’t meow, but rather squeaked — presumably due to an untreated respiratory infection. He’s been showered with affection since becoming a resident of the swamp.  Most of his teeth were removed recently because some were falling out (can’t tell you how fun it is to find one of his teeth stuck to the bottom of my foot) and he’s been having seizures. Lately, he’s been on a tiny dose of Phenobarbital and has been acting like someone from “Valley of the Dolls.”

Hope he wanders home soon …
