A dios

It appears in my dreams so vividly … this place that sticks out like a little finger into the Atlantic.

I have spent much time there, roaming alone in winter through its marshes and soil, with my own breathing slowing down in rhythm to the tides. Listening to the silence.

It goes by many names … Indian names, English settler names, modern street names.

Ask any of my 3 beautiful aunts and they will each identify this place with a different name.

My name for this place is Ice Boat Beach.

naming places–isn’t it interesting how the act of doing that gives them such a special place in our hearts.

one of my favorite places is a lake i called “swan lake.” i only named it that because i didn’t know the real name of it and one day, driving by, the sun was rising and there were 2 swans in the water–it was such a beautiful scene. even if i did know the real name of the place, i would still call it swan lake. 😉

I love seeing your artwork! You’ve told me how you feel about certain places before so it’s interesting to see your visual take on one of those places.
